Intercontinental Network of Organic Farmers Organisations

The Intercontinental Network of Organic Farmers Organisations (INOFO) is an autonomous structure within IFOAM - Organics International representing organic farmers’ organizations.

INOFO is an autonomous self-organised structure within IFOAM - Organics International. INOFO is the minimal infrastructure that belongs specifically to organic farmers organisations, that can facilitate a relationship allowing them to consult, cooperate and, eventually, to speak with a legitimate common voice on matters of common concern.

INOFO -- Farmers Speaking for Ourselves

The Intercontinental Network of Organic Farmer Organisations (INOFO) is the only global network of Organic Farmers' Organisations, representing over 270 farmer organisations across the six global regions Asia, Oceania Pacifica, Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America, with more than one million organic farmers and their families involved.

At INOFO, we, the global organic farmer community, believe in a farmer-led, grassroots approach to sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty. We coordinate strategies across nations and global regions, leveraging the expertise, knowledge, and networks of organic farmers worldwide to promote innovative and sustainable solutions for present and future generations.

Our Role in the Organic Movement is to bring the organic farmer voice to the global arena while working relentlessly in our farmer communities.

INOFO is a global network that fosters a new connection among established associations of Organic farmers, harnessing the potential of a bottom-up, farmer-led approach. It is important to note that INOFO is not a fresh organisation and does not accept individual farmers as members. We engage a new relationship with the existing Organic Farmer Organisations (OFOs) in advocacy efforts to promote common goals related to food sovereignty, encompassing broader concerns such as public policy, farmers' land rights, climate adaptation, production standards and guarantee systems, marketing and pricing negotiations, participatory research, technical training and exchanges, as well as education and other matters affecting farmers. Moreover, INOFO places emphasis on cultivating youth involvement in professional platforms, ensuring that the social and environmental aspects within our communities remain intact. Lastly, INOFO aims to shed light on the challenges faced by small-scale organic farming by openly discussing and highlighting the realities experienced by farmers worldwide.

Key Impact Areas

Keep ethical, sustainable and efficient organic farming alive through accessing our open-source and accessible farmer knowledge base. Our knowledge base includes traditional sources and innovations from OFO members.

Contact, share and disclose legal and environmental issues with a global network of farmers and activists. We believe in fighting for farmers' rights and security and seek to expose injustices and empower farmers through collective power that starts on our farms.

Join our many online and on-the-ground forums to connect with other organic farmer organisations and share your experiences. We host frequent online and in-person events across the globe and ensure that all platforms are included in our global communications strategy.

By fostering cross-regional collaboration, we ensure that organic farmers have a strong, unified voice within IFOAM – Organics International and beyond.
